Create and Edit Survey Questions

This selection can be used to create new survey questions and edit previously entered survey question and response text.(correct misspelled words, etc.) Question and response text can be edited after responses have been entered. You can not change the number of questions, or the survey question type, or delete any choices after any responses have been entered. You can add choices to some question types after responses have been entered.

If editing, select the question you wish to change from the list at the top of the screen. The question text will appear in the same edit box as when you first created the question. The question choices, question type, topic, and additional information (scales, column headings, maximum values, and group headings) can be displayed. Make the necessary changes to the question, question choices, topic text, or maximum value. When you are done with the changes, click the save button.

Question Text
Enter the question text in the edit box labeled question text. Each question can have up to 400 characters.

Question Choices
Add the text choices to the each choice edit box (up to 70 characters each). Up to 9 choices can be entered for each question. Some question types allow up to 25 choices. Your choices should give a complete spectrum of answers. In some cases you might want to add a choice called 'Other', or 'None of the Above', or 'Don't Know'. These answers could really be the most accurate for the respondent..

Choice Topics
The column to the right of the Question Choices is for short topic choices. Choice topics are used for labels on charts, and displayed when selecting question parts. If left blank, the question choice is used may be used in place of the choice topic. For example, the text for a question choice could be 'Willingness of manager to provide positive recognition'. That long choice on a chart would not be an appropriate label. The choice topic 'Positive Recognition' would fit better. Choice topics are also used in some report column headings.

Add Button
When all text of your question and your choices have been entered, click the Add button. Clicking this button will add your question to the All Survey Question Listing and clear all edit boxes for the next question. This button is not enabled if responses have already been entered.

If the question is very similar to the previously entered question, click on the Copy/Paste Prev. Questions button to quickly repeat the text of the last question and set of choices and question type. This button is not enabled if responses have already been entered.

If the choices for the current question are very similar to the previous question, click the Copy/Paste Prev. Choices button. The previous choices will be inserted in the edit boxes for the current question.

Select one of the question types supported by WISCO Survey Power.

Add the text choices to the each choice edit box. Enter your choices for each question. The text for each choice can have up to 70 characters.

Thematic map questions automatically add the text choices and related chart choices when the add button is clicked. Your preferences menu setting determines which set of text choices will be automatically added. If the United States was selected, the 50 states and the District of Columbia will be added. If Canada was pre-selected, the Canadian provinces and territories will be added. If Europe was pre-selected, the 38 European countries will be added.

When charts are made for the United States and Canada, the 2 letter postal codes will be used for a shorter label for the X-axis. When charts are made with the European countries, the official 2 letter ISO Country codes are use to label the X-axis.
